I've been amazed out how quickly the air and sound pollution have diminished over the LA basin. The brownish haze that we are so used to seeing that it no longer registers has seemingly disappeared. The skies are bluer, the mountains crisper and greener, the buildings in downtown LA pop out, and even the distant coastline is visible. The Millikan Cam has been a great way to check things out without leaving home: https://www.library.caltech.edu/millikan-camera. The sweet scent of blooming citrus trees and jasmine wafts through the air. You can hear the birds chirping, the woodpeckers drilling in the tree trunks, and the leaves rustling in the breeze. It's as if the earth is reawakening and healing itself, and it's taken a pandemic and humans hitting the pause button for it to happen.
