This 1911 Pierce Arrow spent several years parked in an alley next to the aeronautics building. It housed a motor generator--donated by alumnus Frank Capra--that provided power for the cloud chamber magnet used in experiments that won a Nobel Prize for Carl Anderson.
Cloud chamber photo shows tracks of electrons and positrons. The particles come down from the top and as they move into a magnetic field, the electrons move to the left, and the positrons to the right.
