For 4.5″ barrage rocket. Designated by the navy as Mk137. 2.965″ long, brass and steel. About 42,000 manufactured by Caltech for the navy in 1943. Prototype for several later fuzes. “A”: cutaway model with 10-vane propeller. “B”: standard model with 8-vane propeller, cutaway. “C”: Model 2, 10-vane propeller; minor alterations over the original model were made by the Bureau of Ordnance (Buord).

This instrument was acquired and modified by Wilfred Mann (the accused “fifth man” of the Philby spy ring) when he was at Chalk River. Later it was used by Mann in the radiation dept. of the NBS. Designed by C.C. and T. Lauritsen. Mfg: Fred C. Hensen Co., Pasadena, CA.

For several 7.2″ shipboard rockets (Mk156) and for 7.2″ projector charges (Hedgehogs) (Mk158). 7.345″ long. Steel, brass, stainless steel, die-casting alloy. These were underwater vane-arming fuzes. Both mark numbers treated as one fuze, developed from prototypes Mk131 and 136. Cutaway version.
