Built in 1932 and named in honor of Henry M. Robinson, Caltech trustee from 1907 to 1937. The observation dome on the roof is a 1:10 scale model of the dome of the Palomar Observatory. The cast-stone sun below honors the work of George Ellery Hale in solar astronomy.
The gift of Mr. and Mrs. William G. Kerckhoff, the building was built in three stages in 1928, 1939, and 1948. This view shows the Moorish style pavilion at the west end near Wilson Avenue.
